The cross features a spotless black enamel core centre, with central 'W' motif for King Wilhelm II (the last Kaiser of Germany), the date 1914 to base (the first year of the war) and the royal crown atop. The piece is slightly vaulted, being the convex type, with frosted silver reverse, with central screw hub post and clamshell affixing disc. The cross arms measure 43mm across, standard for most crosses, however this being the convex type, would prove this is to be a later 1930's made piece. Nice and rare, great condition and worn by those veterans of the First World War who went on to serve in the Second World War, making this type far rarer than the 1914-1918 era made pieces.
