Offered is a pre First World War made Italian 1871 Vetterli Bayonet with Scabbard.  Bayonet features a steel pommel, with working release button, with wooden grips and metal guard, which is stamped ZW7805.  The 24cm long steel blade shows the ‘blood groove’ to the centre of each side of the blade and stamped TA with Royal Crown above, with blade being factory sharpened only, retaining much of the blued protective finish. The leather and brass scabbard is in very good condition. Overall length: 39.8cm long.  This particular bayonet is the ‘cut’ down version of the original long blade/quillon types, these being converted for use with the WW1 Carcano rifles and don’t often appear for sale.
