A Bushveldt Carbineer’s Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899 – 1902 with campaign bars TUGELA HEIGHTS, RELIEF OF LADYSMITH, TRANSVAAL & LIANG’S NEK, impressed named to: 76 TPR. F. HODGSON. BETHUNE’S M.I. Good original frosting to bars, with no sign of any removal of bars. Medal comes with full research & medal rolls, showing service in the various units served. Frederick Hodgson served with the Standerton Mounted Police and as No. 76 in D Squadron Bethune’s Mounted Infantry from 19 October 1899 to 19 November 1900. He enlisted in the Bushveldt Carbineers at Durban on 8 March 1901, and was discharged as Armourer Sergeant on 11 September 1901. He subsequently served as a Trooper in Steinaecker’s Horse.
