Australian WW1 ‘1st Day Gallipoli Lander & Amputee’ British War Medal, impressed named to 224 PTE W. GRIMMER. 7/BN. A.I.F. William Grimmer enlisted 21st August 1914, he was part of the 2nd wave of the landing at Gallipoli on the 25th April 1915. He took part in the 1st Battle of Krithia at Cape Helles and was wounded (shrapnel to shoulder & hand) 8th May. Hospital in England, where his left arm was amputated. Discharged 12th July 1916.
