Offered is an original cased, King George V era Distinguished Service Order & bar. Features a 40mm wide cross, enamelled white and edged in gold, with the centre, within a wreath of laurel, enamelled green, the Imperial Crown in gold upon a red enamelled background. The reverse, within a wreath of laurel, enamelled green, the Royal Cypher (GvR) in gold upon a red enamelled background. A ring at the top of the medal attaches to a ring at the bottom of a gold “suspension” bar, ornamented with laurels. Offered is an original cased, King George V era Distinguished Service Order & bar.

Features a 40mm wide cross, enamelled white and edged in gold, with the centre, within a wreath of laurel, enamelled green, the Imperial Crown in gold upon a red enamelled background. The reverse, within a wreath of laurel, enamelled green, the Royal Cypher (GvR) in gold upon a red enamelled background. A ring at the top of the medal attaches to a ring at the bottom of a gold "suspension" bar, ornamented with laurels. At the top of the ribbon is a second gold bar ornamented with laurels, having the pin attachment for wear. To the centre of the ribbon is a plain gold bar with an Imperial Crown in the centre, signifying the second award of the order. The medal comes in the original velvet & silk lined leatherette case, being maker marked for Garrard & Co. Ltd. The gold embossed letters D.S.O. are present to the top of the scuffed, but serviceable lid.

Rarely will you find a First World War D.S.O. and bar in the case of issue come up for sale. Perfect as a central medal display or replacement for your lost medal in a group.
