RARE 150TH ANNIVERSARY WESTERN AUSTRALIAN POLICE PIPE BAND WILKINSON DAGGER

Description

Offered is a rare 150th Anniversary of Western Australian Police Pipe Band commemorative Wilkinson Sword made dagger.

The sword features a polished gilt brass fleur-de-lis shaped pommel, with a turned jarrah grip, with a fitted the downturned classical guard, with some of the gilt finish remaining to the underside.

The 27cm long, double-edged nickel blade is Wilkinson Sword marked, with Made in England details. The blade shows engravings of a central W.A. police badge, with inscriptions, within bandeaus – ‘WESTERN AUSTRALIAN POLICE PIPE BAND’. The reverse side of the blade is blank, being overall in very good condition.

These were sold within the WA Police Force in 1979 to mark the 150th anniversary of the police force. This is the only example of the kind I have come across attributed to the WA Police Pipe Band. Would make a great commemorative piece for ex-members or enthusiasts alike.
