Australian Vietnam War ‘Long Tan’ doll. Female doll, in silk pattern full length dress, with a straw hat. Missing black hair wig. Retains wooden base with ‘Made in Viet Nam’ hand painted details to the base. Doll stands 39cm high. These were given by the Republic of Vietnam to Australian soldiers who had taken part in the famous battle. Many of the diggers saw these as their only form of recognition, given the lack of honours bestowed by the Australian Government for the successful defence of the Australian base.
