WW1 Australian Battle of Montbrehain, 22nd Battalion death plaque – last A.I.F. battle of The Great War.

Memorial Plaque, 1914-1918 named to EDGAR LIGHT.

Plaque comes with full copied service paperwork.

Lance Sergeant Edgar Light was born in Liverpool, England. He enlisted for service with the A.I.F. on the 3 April 1916, aged 18 years & 7 months. He was allotted to the 15th Reinforcements of the 22nd Battalion. Promoted L/Cpl September 1917, whilst serving in France. Listed as gassed on the 18th July 1918, appointed Lance Sergeant August and listed as Killed in Action 4th October 1918. His record shows that he was ‘Killed Instantly’ as a result of enemy machine gun fire, 1000 yards S.E. of Beaurevoir. He is buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gouy, France. The 22nd Battalion was in action at the Battle of Montbrehain at the time, this being the last action on the Western Front which the A.I.F. was involved in during WW1.
