WAZIRISTAN-BRITISH KING GEORGE V INDIA GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL WW1 BALUCH REGT

Offered is an original 1908-35 India General Service Medal. 36mm wide circular silver medal with claw and ornate scroll swivel ribbon bar with original ‘WAZIRISTAN 1921-24’ clasp; the face with the crowned head and shoulders portrait of King George V facing left in coronation robes, circumscribed ‘GEORGIUS V KAISAR-I-HIND’ (George V Emperor of India); the reverse with a view of Jamrud Fort and the entrance to the Khyber Pass, inscribed ‘INDIA’ on a plaque below with oak and laurel branches to either side; impressed named on rim to 3964 SEP. ABDUL JABBAR, 5 - 10 BALUCH. R.; comes with a full length of ribbon.

The 10th Baluch Regiment, formed in 1922 at Rajkot (Rajasthan) from the five old Baluch battalions and the second battalion of 124th Baluchistan Infantry.

The medal was instituted on 1 January 1909 for service in campaigns on India’s borders. The ‘Waziristan 1921-24’ clasp was awarded for service in Waziristan between 21 December 1921 and 31 March, 1924.
