WW1 Australian officer’s Imperial Camel Corps & 14th Light Horse Regiment medal trio.1914-15 Star, impressed named 2/LIEUT: R.S. JENKINS. 12/BN. A.I.F.; British War and Victory Medals, impressed named LIEUT. R. S. JENKINS. A.I.F. Medals court mounted for display and come with a large copied service documents. Robert Stewart Jenkins was born in Glasgow, Scotland 22nd January 1879. Served in the militia in the U.K., including Inns of Court & North Devon Yeomanry. Worked as a surveyor in Broken Hill before enlisting for service 4th May 1915. He was initially allotted to the 11th Reinforcements of the 12th Battalion. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant 16th July 1915. Transferred to Imperial Camel Corps 8th March 1916. Lieutenant 19th August 1916. Served mainly in Egypt, attached for service with Egyptian Army in Sudan A.O. 12th October 1917. This appointment was as a Camel purchaser for the British Army, as fluent speaker of Arabic & self-confessed Camel expert, this would have certainly made his task slightly less challenging. Transferred to 14th Australian Light Horse 1st July 1918. He discharged 6th June 1919 in Egypt at own request, taking up an appointment with the Department of Mines, Cairo.
