Soviet Union Russian Medal for the Capture of Vienna.

31mm wide circular bronze medal with soldered ring for ribbon suspension; the face inscribed ‘ЗА / ВЗЯТИЕ / ВЕНЬІ’ (for the Capture of Vienna), a five-pointed star above, an olive branch below; the reverse dated ’13 АПРЕЛЯ 1945’ (10 April 1945) below a five-pointed star; age-toned; on original ribbon and pentagonal hanger mounted for wear. The medal was instituted on 9 June 1945 to be awarded to Soviet military who participated in the capture of Vienna between 16 March and 13 April 1945. The medal is one of the less frequently found World War II Soviet campaign awards.
