Lance Corporal Lyall was awarded the Royal Victorian Medal in bronze for forming part of the gun carriage team at the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, 2 February 1901, whilst serving as a Lance Corporal in the 1st Battalion, Grenadier Guards. A very nicely presented medal group, awarded to a direct participant of one of the largest royal funerals in modern history.
