Offered is a ‘Queen Victoria’s Funeral’ Grenadier Guardsman’s Royal Victorian Medal group to Lance Corporal P Lyall, who served with the 3rd Battalion of the Grenadier Guards.

The medal group includes the Royal Victorian Medal V.R., bronze, unnamed as issued; Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899-1902, 5 clasps, BELMONT, MODDER RIVER, ORANGE FREE STATE, JOHANNESBURG & DIAMOND HILL, impressed named to 3326 PTE. P. LYALL, GREN: GDS: & 1902 Edward VII Coronation Medal in bronze, being professionally gilded. Court mounted for wear.

Lance Corporal Lyall was awarded the Royal Victorian Medal in bronze for forming part of the gun carriage team at the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, 2 February 1901, whilst serving as a Lance Corporal in the 1st Battalion, Grenadier Guards. A very nicely presented medal group, awarded to a direct participant of one of the largest royal funerals in modern history.
