VINTAGE NEW SOUTH WALES FIRE BRIGADE GILDED BRASS FIREMAN’S UNIFORM HELMET AUSTRALIA

Offered is an original early 1900’s era New South Wales Fire Brigade bras helmet. Helmet retains all of it’s original gilt finish, showing some age stains, light dents & cracks (mainly upper right and left crown area & top of comb) and light verdigris to some points. Light wear to front badge, but again, mainly age related. Liner is missing, except for around the chinstrap (also missing) bosses. All screw are retained to helmet and would be a great restoration project.

The U.S. dealer I bought this from told me he bought this at an auction in Connecticut, where an old fire station was closed and contents sold. I would think maybe this made it’s way over to the US on exchange or with a returning migrant who served in the N/S.W. Fire Brigade. I have had these before, but every single piece has always had the original gilt finished polished away. Great opportunity to bring this old timer back to life.
