M.M. London Gazette 5 November 1917 (this gazette date contains mostly Ypres campaign awards).
George Stewart was born in February 1895 and attested for the Royal Field Artillery at Deptford, London, on 20 April 1915. Advanced Sergeant on 28 August 1915, he served with 156th Brigade during the Great War on the Western Front from 12 December 1915, and was awarded both the Distinguished Conduct Medal and the Military Medal, the former most likely for gallantry during the Battle of the Somme. Sold with copied record of service and other research, including the Brigade’s War Diary for the period of his D.C.M.-winning exploits.
