WW2 GERMAN ARMY K98 BAYONET & SCABBARD MATCHING # ALEX COPPEL 1938

Description

Offered is a WW2 era matching numbered German K98 bayonet with scabbard.

Bayonet features slightly weathered blued steel fittings overall, with double waffen stamped pommel with working external release button, with screw in bakelite grips and metal guard & muzzle ring. The blued 25.5 cm long blade shows the ‘blood groove’ to each side of the blade, with no sharpening to blade edge, retaining a good spear point, with blade being in generally very good condition overall, showing some residue marks etc. Ricasso stamped 3136O, 38 to spine (date 1938) & Coppel G.m.b.H (Alexander Coppel GmbH of Solingen). Standard blued metal scabbard with some traces of weathering and surface rust with matching numbers & details, which retains the leather frog with retaining strap, being stamped KVZ 1943 to rear.
