WW2 GERMAN ARMY K98 MAUSER BAYONET & SCABBARD MATCHING MUNDLOS AG MAGDEBURG 1938

Description

Offered is a WW2 era matching numbered German K98 bayonet with scabbard.

Bayonet features bluened metal fittings overall, with double waffen stamped pommel with working external release button, with screw in bakelite grips and metal guard & muzzle ring. The 25 cm long blade shows the ‘blood groove’ to each side of the blade, with no evidence of sharpening, good spear point, with blade being in generally very good condition overall with much of the original blued finish. Ricasso stamped 4811a & MUNDLOS (Mundlos AG of Magdeburg) with date 38 (1938) to spine. Standard metal scabbard with most of the protective brown finish, with matching numbers & details. Standard leather frog completes this rather good bayonet set.

The bayonet was in service with the Karabiner 98 bolt-action rifle, which was chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge and which was adopted on 21st June 1935 as used as the standard service rifle by the German Wehrmacht during WW2.
