5th RESERVE REGIMENT CAVALRY WW1 & 2 BRITISH ARMY CAVALRY MEDALS PTE H.COLEY
Offered is a an original set of 4 medals, as awarded to Private Herbert Coley, who served in the 5th Reserve Regiment of Cavalry & Labour Corps during the First World War, with subsequent service as a Special Constable during WW2. Medals include the following awards: War Medal & Victory Medal, both impressed named to 42055 PTE. H.COLEY. 5 – R.R. OF CAV; Defence Medal, un named as issued & Special Constabulary Medal (King George VI) impressed named HERBERT COLEY. Set with medal ribbons taped to backing card. Medals come with copied paper & basic research. It is unusual to see Reserve Regiment of Cavalry medals come up for sale. Herbert Coley was born in 1886 in Crowland, Lincolnshire. His service shows service with 5th Reserve Regiment of Cavalry. At some stage he transferred to the L.D.L.C (Labour Depot Labour Coy) with the service number 621,079. This regimental number was part of the block that were transferred in Egypt Oct/Nov 1918. His service records did not survive the war, but his pension papers report him suffering from Malaria. Awarded Silver War Badge & discharged due to sickness 14/4/1919.
