Offered is a British War Medal, impressed named 1798 F.J.HEWETT. CH.STO. R.A.N. Comes with copy Royal Navy service papers & Royal Australian service papers. Frederick John Hewett was born 1/8/1869 Faversham Kent. Enlisted into the Royal Navy 3/11/1887 as a ‘Stocker’ with a service number 143074. Served on the following ships: HMS Australia 19/11/1889 – 7/6/1893 (Coast Guard Squadron). HMS Mersey 29/11/1893 – 11/4/1895 (coast Guard Squadron). HMS Alexandra 12/4/1895 – 25/4/1895 (Coast Guards). Plymouth Beer Boat 26/4/1895 – 26/5/1895. HMS Forte 5/11/1895 – 22/5/1896. HMS Surprise 23/5/1896 – 27/1/1898. HMS Northampton 2/3/00 – 3/3/1901. HMS Terror 19/10/1901 – 19/12/1901. HMS Hotspur 20/12/1901 – 4/9/1902 (Guard ship Bermuda). HMS Pallas 5/9/1902 – 16/2/1904. HMS King Alfred 11/2/1905 – 23/6/1905. HMS Resolution 8/7/1905 – 31/7/1905. HMS Venerable 1/8/1905 – 1/2/1909.Pembroke II 2/2/1909 – 15/12/1909- Pensioned. Joined RVR Chatham 8/1/1910. Joined RAN in Australia 21/6/1912 Chief Stoker service number 1798. Served at the following ships/establishments: HMAS Tingira (see inset photo/boys parading) 21/6/1912 – 30/6/1913; Fitted out as a boy’s training ship at Mort’s Dock Balmain.
