Offered is an original WW1/WW2 era Australian 9 Karat gold/silver lined sweet heart badge. 9ct stamped to rear. Enamel to rising sun, on boomerang rear. Pin assembly & chain, with badge measuring 50mm x 22mm. Badge retains original sales card.

With so many Australian & Commonwealth soldiers departing for foreign shores and the uncertainty of their return, it is understandable how the tradition of giving a wife, sister, mother, and or sweetheart a precious memento would become popular among the troops.

Today we refer to these mementos in general as “sweetheart badges”, but in reality these precious gifts could just as easily be a necklace, a ring, or even a hairpin and take many more forms than just solely badges.
