Offered is an original German – the 1939 ‘soldier’s friend’ year book for the army. Pebbled leather bound, showing some wear to spine, but generally sound, with embossed gilt WH eagle to front cover corner, containing B&W and colour plates, as well as all the information a young soldier in the army would need to know. Details, ranks, structures, unifroms, awards, districts, maps, formations etc. I have only rarely seen these come up for sale, this being a piece that had to be bought. A great insight into how the soldier of 1939 was taught, on the eve of WW2....
