WW2 Luftwaffe pilot’s survival machete by Alcosa of Solingen. Features wooden grips with 2 steel screw pins, steel hammer flat face pommel and guard, metal areas are solid but show areas of light corrosion . 40.7cm large bright bowie blade, carries the pre 1941 Alex Coppel Alexanderwerks AWS scales logo and ALCOSO over Solingen trademark. Front edge has been factory sharpened and blade still very bright in its polish finish. Comes with black painted steel scabbard with webbing scabbard frog, some surface corrosion to scabbard near worn frog area. These 53cm long machetes were part of the aircrew survival packs in aircraft such as the Heinkell-111 and as such are extremely rare & highly collectable.
