RARE WW1 AUSTRALIAN ISSUED SANDERSON 303 RIFLE 1907 BAYONET SCABBARD SWORD ARMY

Offered is an original 1918 dated Sanderson made, ‘Australian Issued’ First World War 1907 pattern bayonet with scabbard. Bayonet & scabbard features steel fittings, with ‘D’ arrow stamped pommel & working release button, lightly used condition wooden grips and metal ‘3 D arrow D’ (3rd Military District issued – Victoria & part of N.S.W.) stamped guard. The 43 cm long steel blade shows the ‘blood groove’ to the centre of each side of the blade and stamped for Sanderson (Sanderson Bros & Newbould Ltd), being dated Septemeber, 1918. Overall length: 58cm long. A good used example of a WW1 bayonet, as used with the classic Short Magazine Lee–Enfield No. 1 Mk. III service rifle, which would have been re-issued for service during the Second World War.
