Offered is an original 1909 dated Enfield made First World War 1907 pattern bayonet with scabbard. Bayonet & scabbard features pre war quality steel fittings, with stamped pommel showing use with the 4th (Territorial) Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry & working release button, lightly used condition wooden grips and metal guard, showing where the original quillon/hook had been removed. The 43 cm long steel blade shows the ‘blood groove’ to the centre of each side of the blade and stamped EFD (Royal Small Arms Factory Enfield ), being dated for December, 1909. Offered is an original 1909 dated Enfield made First World War 1907 pattern bayonet with scabbard.
Bayonet & scabbard features pre war quality steel fittings, with stamped pommel showing use with the 4th (Territorial) Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry & working release button, lightly used condition wooden grips and metal guard, showing where the original quillon/hook had been removed. The 43 cm long steel blade shows the ‘blood groove’ to the centre of each side of the blade and stamped EFD (Royal Small Arms Factory Enfield ), being dated for December, 1909. The blades factory sharpened, retaining majority of the original bright finish to surface. Standard leather & metal WW2 scabbard, with round metal frog button, with very good condition leather body, stamped 233 to top of chape. Overall length: 58cm long. A good used example of a WW1 bayonet, as used with the classic Short Magazine Lee–Enfield No. 1 Mk. III service rifle.
