Offered is a British War Medal (1914 – 1918) impressed named PAY. S. LT. S. FLOWER. R.N.R. Comes with copy’s Army and Navy service papers, medal rolls, M.I.C, Silver Wound Badge roll and 1939 census.

Sub Lieutenant Stanley Flower was born on 16/12/1890, in London. He was employed as a ‘Bank Clark’, when he attested on the 24/11/1915 in London to the 31^st Battalion (Reserve) Royal Fusiliers, his service number being G/40049. Private Flower was mobilised on the 27/1/1916 and posted as a re enforcement to France 16/8/1916. On the 31/8/1916 he was transferred to the 12^th Battalion Middlesex Regiment (18^th Division)  His active service came to an end when he was shot in the face on the Somme and evacuated to England. The exact date of his wounding is unclear as his records show that he was injured on the 8/10/16, but had served France 16/8/16 – 8/9/16.

After a year of treatment he was medically discharged with a pension on the 31/10/1917. Undeterred he joined the Royal Naval Reserve 25/5/1918 as a Temporary Assistant Paymaster but only fit for ‘Home service’. His Naval records show ‘severely wounded’ on the Somme. He served until 27/11/1919 when he was again discharged due to his injury’s.

The 1939 census records Lt Flower working as a ‘Bank Clark’ and he lived until 1964.
