*CRETE* WOUNDED IN ACTION AUSTRALIAN AND POW GUNNER GEORGE 2/3RD A.A.UNIT MEDALS

Description

Offered is a fine fighting ‘wounded at Crete’ and Prisoner of War medal group to Gunner James Lloyd George, who served with the
2/3rd Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment during WW2 and who, owing to his severe wounds received during the firece fighting at Crete in 1941, was repatriated by the German back to Australia in 1944.

1939 – 45 Star, Africa Star, Defence Medal, War Medal 1939 – 45 and Australian Service Medal 1939 – 45. All impressed named VX32919 J.L. GEORGE. Comes with copy photo of Genner George, copies service records, P.O.W. List, copy 2 photographs & casualty list 2/3rd L.AA.

James Lloyd George, born 4/1/1016, at Brunswick Victoria. He was working as a textile worker when he enlisted on the 18/6/1940 with the Australian Army. After basic training he was posted to the 2/3rd Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment 26/8/1940 at Geelong. The Regiment was raised in July 1940 and Gunner George being an original member of the unit, serving with 7 Battery.
