Blue enamel cross crosslet with rays between the arms, on swivel crown suspension with crossed swords; the face with a circular central red enamel medallion bearing the royal cypher, within a blue enamel ring inscribed in gilt letters ‘IN FIDE SALUS’ (salvation lies in loyalty) encircled by a green enamel oak wreath; the reverse with a central circular red enamel medallion bearing the crowned gilt cipher of King Carol I encircled by a green enamel oak wreath; on original mounted ribbon. The Order was instituted on 10 May 1877 to reward outstanding service to the state and is becoming very hard to find. A very good example.
