WW2 POLAND NATIONAL MILITARY ACTION CROSS MEDAL & CASE

41mm wide silvered metal cross pattée with concave arms and ends to the arms, with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with a central shield bearing the crowned Polish eagle perched on an Amazon shield, imposed on a vertical sword, the initials ‘NSZ’ (for Narodowe Siły Zbrojne = National Armed Forces) above, the left and right arms dated ‘1939’ and ‘1945’ respectively; the reverse with a central shield inscribed ‘NARODOWY CZYN ZBROJNY’ (National Military Achievement), the left, right and lower arms inscribed ‘ZJ’ (Związek Jaszczurczy), ‘NOW’ (Narodowa Organizacja Wojskowa) and ‘NZW’ (Narodowe Zjednoczenie Wojskowe) respectively, being the acronyms of the constituents of the NSZ; on original ribbon in its award case.

The Cross was instituted on 14 December 1944 by the NSZ, a grouping of nationalist resistance movements who fought both German and Soviet occupation and domination of Poland, and was recognised by the Polish state on 16 October 1992.
