Offered is a rare U.S. Marine Corps named officer’s ‘mameluke’ sword and scabbard, as worn by Major William Taylor McFall. Features composite faux ivory grip with nicely toned gilt finished brass star rivets, spine & acorn tipped cross guard. The Hillborn Hamburger trademark & star proof is displayed to the 85cm double etched cm long, slightly curved unsharpened stainless blade, showing USMC anchor and eagle World Shield with large “United States Marines” etched both sides, officers name “William Taylor McFall” to blade panel, with spine displaying USMC Serial 323. The Hillborn Hamburger trademark & star proof is displayed to the 85cm double etched cm long, slightly curved unsharpened stainless blade, showing USMC anchor and eagle World Shield with large “United States Marines” etched both sides, officers name “William Taylor McFall” to blade panel, with spine displaying USMC Serial 323. The sword is finished off nicely with the nickel plated and toned gilt finished brass scabbard, retaining both belt suspension rings. Both sword and scabbard are free of any damage, making this an impressive piece.

Major William Taylor McFall was born 21/7/1937 in Wichita, Texas, enlisting into the US Marine Corps 3/10/1955, with service number 1543943, serving with ‘A’ Coy, 6th Infantry Battalion, U.S.M.C.R., gaining rank of Corporal 10/10/1957. He passed his junior aviation course 30/7/1956 at Quantico, Virginia. He was commissioned with his service number 78136 as 1st Lieutenant 3/6/1959, Captain 1/3/1964, Major 7/11/1967. He was serving with 152nd (Marine) Squadron, Detachment Delta 11/9/1972 – 16/6/1973. He must have seen service during the Vietnam War, as he was awarded at least the following awards: Air Medal 7/8/1969 and Navy & US Marien Corps Commendation Medal 6/3/1969. He was living in Katy, Texas in 1992.
