Offered is a 1914 – 15 Star, impressed named J.5965. F.C. LYNE. A.B. R.N.; British War and Victory Medals, impressed named J5965. F.C. LYNE. A.B. R.N.; Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct medal (G.V), impressed named J.5965. F.C. LYNE. L.S. H.M.S. COVENTRY.    Swing mounted as worn.

Acting Petty Officer Lyne service covered 22 years including WW1, he served on over 19 ships ranging from destroyers – battle ships and dreadnoughts.

Fred Collon Lyne was born in Portsmouth on 12/10/1892. A billiard marker by trade, he joined the Royal Navy on 12/10/1910. He served on the following H.M.S ship and shore establishments: Ganges, Cressy, Magnificent, Jupiter, Invincible, Victory I, Prince of Wales, Excellent, Monarch 7/4/1914 – 16/2/1916. Greenwich (a destroyer tender for the Fourteenth Destroyer Flotilla but served on the destroyer H.M.S Offa) 23/6/1916 – 14/8/1917. He finished the war at H.M.S Victory and Excellent (shore bases).

Post war served on Blenheim (a destroyer tender for the 5^th Destroyer Flotilla in the med, but served on the destroyer H.M.S Tomahawk) Egmont (Malta), Blenheim, Undaunted, Centurion, Columbine (Winchester), Coventry, Tiger, Iron Duke, Royal Sovereign. His last postings were to H.M.S. Excellent (shore base) 8/3/1932 – 12/10/1932 and discharged to pension as Acting Petty Officer. He died Oct 1979 Hampshire.

Awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal on 5/12/1925.
