The Australian Army Special Air Service Company was expanded and renamed the Special Air Service Regiment on the 4th of September 1964. In 2014 the Special Air Service Regiment celebrated its Golden Jubilee Anniversary. As part of this celebration, a limited edition celebratory coin has been released. The coin features on the obverse an enamelled feature showing the silhouette of a patrolling trooper at sunset with the words ‘THE WANDERER’ to the underside of the central circle. The reverse features an stylised representation of the winged dagger and ‘WHO DARES WINS’ S.A.S. badge to centre, surrounded by a band featuring the dates of the anniversary 1964-2014 as well as the wording ‘Special Air Service Regiment 50th Anniversary’. This coin is individually numbered out of a strictly limited release of 2000 sets. The coin comes in it’s 2 piece plastic display capsule and individually numbered certificate of authenticity and is housed in a magnificent faux wood grain box, featuring the anniversary logo in gilt to centre. Please note the issue number will not be the same as the example pictured.
