GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL KURDISTAN & IRAQ HAVILDAR 1/113 BATTALION WW1

Offered is a General Service Medal (1918 – 62), with 2 clasps, KURDISTAN, IRAQ, impressed named 4642 H VLDR. RAMZAN ALI 1-113 INFANTRY. Comes with copy medal roll & M.I.C.

Havildar (Corporal) Ramzan Ali, served with the 1^st Battalion 113 Infantry in Mesopotamia (Iraq) he is probably also entitled to the British War and Victory Medals 1914 – 18.

The 1/113 were stationed in India at the outbreak of the war and remained there until March 1917 when they disembarked at Basra on 31/3/1917. They became part of the 52^nd Brigade 17^th Indian Division. After the revolt in 1920, they returned to India in late 1920 or early 1921.

He was probably issued his GSM medal at Ajmer in 1924 as he was still serving at this date.
