AUSTRALIAN ARMY SPECIAL AIR SERVICE REGIMENT SASR 50TH ANNIVERSARY COIN

The Australian Army Special Air Service Company was expanded and renamed the Special Air Service Regiment on the 4th of September 1964. In 2014 the Special Air Service Regiment celebrated its Golden Jubilee Anniversary. As part of this celebration, a limited edition celebratory coin has been released. The coin features on the obverse a replica 1964 Australian Penny showing the original kangaroo design coin face. The reverse features a stylised representation of the winged dagger and ‘WHO DARES WINS’ S.A.S. badge to centre, surrounded by a band featuring the dates of the anniversary 1964-2014 as well as the wording ‘Special Air Service Regiment 50th Anniversary’. This coin is housed in a plastic cover on a card showing the Ian Coate painting ‘Moment of Contact’ to one side and details of the Wanderer’s Ball to reverse. This coin was given to the ball attendees and is a lovely keepsake for the anniversary.
