Offered is a 1939 – 45 Star, Atlantic Star, Africa Star, Pacific Star with clasp BURMA, War Medal (1939 – 45) all un named as issued, Naval Long Service Good Conduct Medal (G.VI.) impressed named M.36710. K.N. WINGROVE. C.E.R.A.2. H.M.S. ELFIN. Court mounted for display. Comes with copies of: Service records, medal roll. Warrant Engineer Kenneth Nelson Wingrove, was born on the 24/10/1905 in Intarfa, Malta. It is believed that his father, Charles Medway Wingrove, was stationed there at the time, serving with the Essex Regiment (service no 5456). He enlisted straight into the Royal Navy from school on the 6/8/1921 as an ERA apprentice (Engine Room Artificer). He served on a variety of H.M. ship and shore bases including: Indus, Fisgard, Cyclops, Pembroke, Marlborough, Cumberland. Vindictive, Medway, St Angelo (Malta), Titania, Elfin. WW2: H.M.S. Elfin (torpedo recovery vessel) 11/5/1938 ?-11/4/1940. By this stage he was an E.R.A.2 (with 3 years) when posted to H.M.S. Ajax 18/7/1940.
