WW1 BRITISH ARMY 1822 PATTERN ARTILLERY OFFICERS SWORD & SCABBARD

Offered is a George V era (1911 – 1935) 1822 Pattern British Army Artillery Officer’s sword. The sword features a wire bound fish skin grip, mounted onto an all chequered nickel back strap and 3 branched guard, with a wound leather knot. The blade has polished battle & laurel leaf etchings running 1/2 down the length of both sides of the 88 cm straight blade. Good royal arms (King George VI) and motto’s running along both sides of the blade, including Royal Artillery motto and winged lightning symbol. The blade is star proved is in very good condition, with minor blemishing overall. Maker marked to R. gROVES 53 WELLINGTON S. WOOLWICH. The leather field service scabbard retains the leather suspension hanger and large style drag, which is showing light wear. The scabbard is in very good condition with light wear and a tight stitch line to spine. Generally, a well cared for sword, showing usual service wear. This will be a great addition to your collection.
