Offered is an original WW1 era German 98/05 Mauser ‘Butcher’ bayonet & scabbard by W.K.C. of Solingen. Bayonet features steel fittings overall, with waffen stamps to birds head pommel with working external release button, screw in wooden grips and metal guard & partial muzzle ring. The 37 cm long swollen steel blade shows original factory sharpening to blade edge, retaining the clear spear point, with blade being in excellent condition overall. Standard metal scabbard with Waffen stamp to throat, in good original shape, showing no dents or damage, with usual service worn finish. Blade fits very nicely into the scabbard. Overall length: 52cm.

The bayonet was designed for use with the 7.92 mm Gewehr 98 bolt action Mauser Rifle, being one of the main service rifles of the German Army pre and post WW1.
