Offered is a Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (VR issue), impressed named HERBT KELLOW. BOATN H.M. COAST GD. Comes with copies of service records, newspaper article and medal roll. Boatsman Herbert Kellow was born 1/6/1832, at Warminster, Wiltshire (Date of birth, of the 3 records 1 gives 18th June 1840/2nd gives 1st June 1832) he enlisted into the Royal Navy 19/9/1854 as a Boy 1st Class. The period of engagement was for 10 years after turning 18. His service number being 16168. He served on the following H.M. ship and shore bases: H.M.S. Royal William. He served during the Crimean War aboard H.M.S. Sphinx 13/7/55 – 2/5/1857. H.M.S. Conway, H.M.S. Ajax, H.M.S. Nile, H.M.S. Sans Pareil, H.M.S. Marlborough, H.M.S. Excellent, H.M.S. Barracouta, H.M.S. Danae. Coast Guard: 30/4/1872 – 22/4/1878, and discharged to Pension. He is also entitled to the Crimea Medal and Turkish Crimea Medal.
