7TH RAJPUT’S CAPTAIN FRANK W.V. SHAW WW2 BURMA, DUTCH EAST INDIES & CYPRUS MEDALS
a ‘double-issue’ G.S.M. group of six awarded to Captain F. W. V. Shaw, Indian Army Ordnance Corps, 7th Rajput Regiment and Cyprus Central Prison Staff
1939 – 45 Star, Burma Star, Defence & War Medals (1939 – 45) all un named as issued, General service Medal (1918 – 62), with clasp S.E.ASIA 1945 -46, impressed named E.C.5435 CAPT. F.W.V. SHAW., General Service Medal (1918 – 1962 ), with clasp CYPRUS, impressed named 1188 SGT. F.W.V. SHAW. Court mounted for display. Comes with copies of London Gazette, officers list & 1939 census.
Captain Frank William Verecker Shaw
was born 17/7/1912 in West Derby, Lancashire. The 1939 census records him as living in Durham and working as the manager for F.W. Woolworths. Shaw was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the 7th Rajput Regiment on 29 November 1941. Serving with the Indian Army Ordnance Corps he was promoted to a War Substantive Lieutenant on 1 October 1942. He married in Jubbulpore, India 1944. It is unsure where he qualified for the GSM with clasp S.E. ASIA 1945 – 46 as the 2 locations of possible qualification were the Dutch East Indies and French Indo China, both locations that the I.A.O.C. were present.
Post war he was employed in the Cyprus Prison Service qualifying for the clasp CYPRUS. He died 1978.
