Colt 1849 pocket revolver, "Wells Fargo" model. Working single action. Hammer pulls back and cocks the revolver. Pull the trigger to release the hammer and fire the pistol. Black metal barrel. Chrome metal frame. Plastic grips are Imitation wood. This is a small and lightweight revolver, this revolver was easy to carry and was popular with Wells Fargo staff and Sheriffs as a back up gun. The pocket revolvers where designed by Colt for the civilian market and where designed to be small enough to be carried in belt holsters or in coats. They where often carried by Wells Fargo agents and as a back up gun (Ned Kelly carried one as part of his arsenal), they where made in a few different barrel lengths and they where made with and without an attached loading rod under the barrel, the ones without the loading rod are now called "Wells Fargo" models and would have to be loaded with a separate rod or dowel. In the film "The outlaw Josey Wales" Clint Eastwood carriers a few guns including a 1849 pocket colt revolver in a shoulder holster (in the film Josey Wales has an 1849 Colt with a loading rod).
