The sword features the classic wire wrapped black 'curved' composite grip with full wire wrap, retaining the gilt finished Royal Monogram badge for Kaiser Wilhelm II. The grip is mounted onto twin branched shaped guard, with capped brass pommel and folding Prussian eagle langet and leather finger leather loop. The metal fittings are expertly engraved and finely gilded, denoting this to be a general officer’s variety of superior quality. The unmarked straight nickel blade is 84 cm long. The blade is in exceptional condition, being bright and clean overall, with only storage/in out wear to plating. The black enamel scabbard retains the single suspension ring for hanging and medium style drag. The scabbard retains the majority of its original black finish. This is the classic Infantry Officer's sword, won by German general officer's up to and including the First World War, most likely being manufactured pre 1915, considering the exceptional gilding and quality of this rare piece. Overall length: 102 cm.
