RARE BRITISH ARMY ZULU WAR GENERAL OFFICER’S UNIFORM PEAKED CAP

Offered for sale is a genuine British Army General officer’s peaked forage cap, this being the Zulu Wars 1880’s era pill box type cap. Features an all black wool crown, with gilt 5cm wide oak wreath lace headband, purl button and braided figure to crown. The peak is solid leather with a similar embroidered rank stripe to lower peak. The interior shows a leather sweatband and ribbed carmine silk lining. Retains the maker label for Manning & Co. of New Bond St, London. Shows interior wear, but excellent condition to outside. Approx size 57. A rarely seen cap.
