For sale is an original Egypt campaign Khedive’s Medal 1884-6, impressed to reverse BERKS 886. Medal comes with extensive paperwork relating to the recipient. William Want enlisted at Gosport with the 2nd Battalion, Berkshire Regiment on 25 September 1883. Drafted to the 1st Battalion on 3 October 1884 he joined them in Egypt and was present for the Suakin Expedition in 1885. Here the Berkshire’s played a major role in the Battle of Tofrek, holding the line when a sudden Dervish assault allowed them to get into the British defences. For sale is an original Egypt campaign Khedive's Medal 1884-6, impressed to reverse BERKS 886. Medal comes with extensive paperwork relating to the recipient.

William Want enlisted at Gosport with the 2nd Battalion, Berkshire Regiment on 25 September 1883. Drafted to the 1st Battalion on 3 October 1884 he joined them in Egypt and was present for the Suakin Expedition in 1885. Here the Berkshire's played a major role in the Battle of Tofrek, holding the line when a sudden Dervish assault allowed them to get into the British defences. Promoted Lance Corporal on 17 June 1887 Want served until at least 1891 when he appears for the last time on the muster rolls. A Charles William Want, listing previous service in the Berkshire Regiment did join the Corps of Royal Reserve Regiments in 1900 however it is unknown if they are the same man; sold together with copied medal rolls, handwritten research and service papers for Charles William Want.
