Swing mounted as worn they come with original card box of issue, original portrait picture and copies of service records. Fred Butterworth was born in Yorkshire, England in 1889. He emigrated to Canada pre–Great War and was working a s a farm labourer. He enlisted into the 51s Infantry Battalion in Edmonton, Alberta on 29/11/1915. Fred Butterworth was born in Yorkshire, England in 1889. He emigrated to Canada pre–Great War and was working a s a farm labourer. He enlisted into the 51s Infantry Battalion in Edmonton, Alberta on 29/11/1915.

After initial training he left Canada for England landing on 28/4/1916. After further training he was posted to the 2nd Battalion landing in France on 9/6/1916.

He had a rough introduction to France being hospitalised within 4 days with shell shock on the 13th.

He returned to the battalion in August 1916 and survived the war to return to Canada for discharge on 13/5/1919.
