Offered is a Queen Victoria era (1837-1901) 1827 Pattern British Army Rifle Officer's sword.
The sword features a wire bound fish skin grip, mounted onto a plain back strap, with characteristic pierced bowl guard, featuring the Rifle's bugle & monarchs crown for Queen Victoria

The slightly curved 82cm long blade has royal arms with scrolls, bugle and QVR cypher with crown, hand etched to both sides of the blade, showing maker mark to forte for Firmin & sons. Proof star to forte as well as what looks like the owners initials stamped, in an oval dotted border C. K. (similarly stamped to inner guard). The blade is in very good condition for age and this being a correct style 'fighting sword'. Leather covered metal service scabbard is very good and complete, with light wear to the chape. Very rare to see these leather covered scabbards, I can only imagine this was covered in leather for extreme service use. Overall a very presentable sword.
