Offered is an original Operational Service Medal for Afghanistan, awarded to Captain D M Whitten, Parachute Regiment.
The medal is presented in mint condition, with the 'AFGHANISTAN' award bar.
The medal is laser engraved named to the rim and comes in the original award box, with his details to the base.
For those of you who would be aware, this medal has only been awarded since 2002 for service in Afghanistan, these are rarely seen for sale and even rarer to an Officer of the Parachute Regiment. This was purchased direct from the family. Many of the veterans of the campaign have mentioned the tough fight the Paras had in Helmand, or as they called it 'The Wild, West West' and how many were killed and wounded in the region. Very rarely will you see a Parachute Regiment associated service medal, let alone to an Officer who served so recently.
