***SOLD*** 1897 Pattern British Infantry Officers Sword, attributed to 2nd Lieutenant Harold Creswick Dungworth, who served with the 3rd Battalion, The East Yorkshire Regiment. Features a nickel pierced nickel guard, with royal cypher & crown design, with full chequered back strap. The wire bound fish skin grip is in very good condition. The 83cm long, straight blade shows etchings of foliate patterns with royal cypher, with maker mark for Hawksworth of Sheffield. 1897 Pattern British Infantry Officers Sword, attributed to 2nd Lieutenant Harold Creswick Dungworth, who served with the 3rd Battalion, The East Yorkshire Regiment.
Features a nickel pierced nickel guard, with royal cypher & crown design, with full chequered back strap. The wire bound fish skin grip is in very good condition. The 83cm long, straight blade shows etchings of foliate patterns with royal cypher, with maker mark for Hawksworth of Sheffield. The name panel shows naming in raised gothic script “2nd Lieut Harold Creswick Dangworth 3rd East Yorks Regt”. The leather scabbard is in very good condition, with no break in the stitching to spine, with light surface rubbing/wear, retaining its leather Sam Browne belt frog.
Harold Creswick Dungworth was born 29th October 1896, in Sheffield. He was commissioned into the 3rd Battalion, The East Yorkshire Regiment 10/09/18, having previously served with the 12th (Sheffield Pals) York & Lancaster Regiment. He died in Sheffield, in September 1967
