Second World War Australian – Bob Hope & entertainers signed Japanese Battle ‘Meatball’ flag. Large flag, with numerous Japanese signatures, with a couple of tears, stains etc. Signatures to centre include US entertainers Bob Hope, Francis Langford, Jerry Colomo, Patty Thomas, Barney Dean, Tony Romaro, with Australian entertainer’s signatures Mamie Reid, Dick Bentley & Pauline Garrick. Flag is professionally framed, which measures 85cm x 105cm. Comes with smaller frame, showing a photo of Bob Hope signing this flag, with additional details of signatures. The flag was obtained by WX28100 WO2 James Hewlett, who served with the 2/30th Bn. He is shown holding the camera behind Bob Hope and he took this as a souvenir from a Japanese encampment in November 1943 in New Guinea. Flag was signed by Bob Hope and the other entertainers put on at North Alexis Haven in June 1944.
