George Laurenson was born on 16/2/1946 in Fremantle, Western Australia. He enlisted into the Australian Regular Army on 22/10/1968 and completed selection and training with the Australian Special Air Service Regiment the following year. He served in South Vietnam with 1 Squadron S.A.S.R. from 18/2/1970 – 18/2/1971. He discharged from the Army on 24/5/1973. A prominent rugby union player with the Cottesloe Club (W.A.), Inter-Service and interstate teams. He died on 23/5/2017. He is listed in the book SAS Phantoms of the Jungle and appears twice in SAS A Pictorial History of the Australian Special Air Service 1957 – 1997.
