1854 pattern, Queen Victoria era, General Officer’s Sword. Features a gilded branched guard, with crossed baton/sword & crown, with ornate scrolled/chequered halved back strap. The wire bound fish skin grip is in good condition, with some wear/chip points. The 82cm long, straight blade shows very good frosted etchings of foliate patterns with royal cypher, crossed baton/sword & crown. Maker marked for ‘C. SMITH & SON. NEW BURLINGTON STREET. LONDON’, with light wear & some nicks towards blade point, but generally good bright original finish. The grey metal scabbard is in very good condition, with no dents or damage, retaining its twin floating suspension rings, with a few dents to lower portion. Overall length: 100cm.
