The medal was awarded to members of the St. Andrew’s Ambulance Corps present at the review at Ibrox Park in Glasgow to mark the fiftieth anniversary of its foundation. The St. Andrew’s Ambulance Association was founded in Glasgow in 1882 in order to provide an ambulance service and basic first aid and the St. Andrew's Ambulance Corps was set up in 1904.
