Australian army commando (Fairbairn and Sykes), 1st pattern dagger with leather sheath – UK made by J. Nowill of Sheffield. The knife is 30cm long and has the protective nickel plated metal fittings, cross hatched hand grip and ‘S’ shaped oval guard which has the makers details and broad arrow (Ministry of Defence). Nickel plated hand finished blade, which is the double sided type, displaying the ‘THE F-S KNIFE’ etched panel, with spear point tip and fine factory sharpened edges, being 17.8cm long. Dagger fits well into the Italian made black leather sheath, with nickel plated end cap and ‘fimma’ marked snap tab. A quality, U.K. made example.
